Interview live from the protest.
As participants in the protest, you will create a news report to share the different perspectives among students about the Supreme Court's landmark ruling. Your report should clearly explain the Court's decision and then present interviews with fellow protesters to capture their diverse views and feelings. Show how this ruling impacts young Americans and explore what it might mean for the future of the country.

• Define your role: assign who will introduce the protest, who will explain the Supreme Court ruling, and who will interview or quote other protesters. Everyone contributes to the final report.
• Understand the ruling: together, decide what the Supreme Court decision is about (racial equality, gender, etc.). Note the voting result (6-3, 9-0) and what the ruling means for people. Research past Supreme Court decisions related to this issue. Be ready to mention these connections to strengthen your report.
• Prepare your introduction: write a clear and engaging opening that explains the case and the Court's decision for your report.
• Create your questions: develop three to five questions to ask fellow students protesting the decision. These should reveal their opinions, feelings, and reasons for supporting or opposing the ruling.
• Design protest signs: make signs that show your group's diverse viewpoints and messages about the ruling.

You will write a news article reporting on the protest outside the Supreme Court. Your article should describe the event, explain the background of the Supreme Court ruling, and present different perspectives from protesters. Include facts about why the ruling is important and what debates it has sparked in American society. End your article by raising questions about the impact this protest and ruling might have on the future.

• Gather your notes: recap the Supreme Court's landmark decision. What was the ruling about? What was the vote? Why is it significant?
• Connect to history: include at least one reference to the Court's past decisions. Show how this ruling continues or breaks with previous cases.
• Quote fellow students: make sure to reflect a variety of opinions and emotions.
• Think about the impact: mention how this ruling might affect American students today or in the future. What debates or concerns does it raise?
