A Xmas Carol Play

Compétence : Parler en continu : je reproduis un modèle oral.
Culture : je découvre la civilisation des pays anglophones.

Did you know?

The popular tradition of Christmas trees came from Germany. Trees were decorated with… food, like apples and nuts! Christmas plays are also popular. Do you like acting ? And Christmas? Why not stage a Christmas play !

Act one

3 parts needed: Narrator (NA), Scrooge (S) (a grumpy old man), Nephew (N) (a cheerful young man)
NA: Once upon a time, on Christmas Eve, old Scrooge sat busy in his counting-house.
N: A merry Christmas, uncle!
NA: It was the voice of Scrooge’s nephew.
S: Bah!… Humbug!
N: Christmas a humbug, uncle! You don’t mean that, I am sure?
S: I do. Every idiot who goes about with “Merry Christmas” on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding!
N: Uncle!
S: Nephew, keep Christmas in your own way, and let me keep it in mine.
N: Keep it! But you don’t keep it.

Adapted from A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens, 1843.
