Culture note
The Great Depression was a severe economic crisis during the 1930s that caused massive unemployment and poverty across the United States. At the same time, the Dust Bowl, caused by prolonged drought and poor farming practices, led to devastating dust storms that ruined farmland and forced many families to leave their homes in search of better opportunities.

two choices Dorothea Lange made when taking the photos. What is the impact
of these choices?
4

Quote of the day
A camera is a tool for learning
how to see without a camera.
― Dorothea Lange
How can a camera help people
notice or understand things they don't
usually pay attention to? Can you give
an example of something you started to
“see differently” after looking at a photo?
